History

The Maharaja's Express is the royal creation of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd.( IRCTC) and Cox and Kings India Ltd. It is Asia's costliest train which will begin its royal journey in March 2010. After doing an extensive research on some of the most luxurious trains in the world, this train was built.

Day 1- Saturday: Delhi- Agra

Safdarjung Railway Station is the hub of activity as an exciting sojourn across the never-never lands is just about to begin. The Maharajas' Express is especially decked for you and the the Indian Splendor tour is shortly about to commence.

Day 2- Sunday: Agra

Your first destination is Agra, the land of the Taj. A visit to the Taj is perhaps a dream come true for millions of tourists from all over the world and no trip to India can be rendered complete without a visit to this ultimate architectural masterpiece.
After you have explored the Taj Mahal, enjoy a high tea experience atop the Taj Khema and return to the train to continue your sojourn to the next destination.

Day 3- Monday: Ranthambore- Jaipur

Visit the wild animals of the Ranthambore National Park in their natural environs and surrender your day completely to nature. On your arrival back in the train, you will be served a leisurely brunch while you will proceed towards Jaipur, the capital city of the Rajasthan. Popularly known as the 'Pink City', Jaipur has in store museums, Fort Amer, shopping arcades, jeep safaris and even an exhibition Elephant Polo Match. Once you have reached Jaipur, you could stay back in the train for some leisure moments or begin your sightseeing trips across city; the choice is completely yours.

Post the exhibition match, dinner will be served in a private venue along with choicest wines.

Day 4- Tuesday: Bikaner

The desert city of Bikaner offers an eclectic mix of rugged deserts, bedecked camels and excited tourists who want to capture every bit of the city in their memories to carry back home with them. Bikaner, an erstwhile princely kingdom, is today home to several medieval palaces and forts and a number of well stocked museums too that facilitate the guests with an easy understanding of the legacies surrounding it. Day 5- Wednesday: Jodhpur

An early morning village safari across the Bishnoi village will more than refresh your senses. Return to the train for lunch and later leave for exploring the Old Clock Tower and the Mehrangarh Fort. Day 6- Thursday: Udaipur

Udaipur offers a sharp contrast as compared to the rugged locales of Jodhpur and Bikaner. The Lake Pichola besides adding beauty to the city, also helps keep the ambience cool. It is also home to the magnificent Lake Palace and several boating activities also take place here. In Udaipur, the topmost attractions that you can visit include the City Palace and the Durbar Hall. This tour will offer you a glimpse into some of the most stunning creations of Mughal and Rajput architecture along with a dash of wildlife in Ranthambore.

After fulfilling your check-in formalities proceed to board the train. The train will roll into Agra in the second half of the day wherein you’ll be taken to a sightseeing tour of the World Heritage Agra Fort.

Enjoy a champagne evening later and return to the comfort of the train for your overnight stay.

Day 2- Monday: Agra - Ranthambore

Today’s sightseeing involves early morning trip to Taj Mahal, the most iconic monument of India and one of the seven Modern Wonders of the World. Explore this manmade wonder built entirely of white marble and studded with exquisite carvings and calligraphy.

Later return to the train to continue your sojourn to the next destination. The lunch will be served on board as the train crisscrosses through mesmerizing terrains to Ranthambore.

Day 3- Tuesday: Jaipur

Day 1- Saturday: Delhi- Jaipur

Begin your tour from Delhi, the capital city of the country and once-important seat of Mughal India. It has been a potpourri of different cultures, religions and also ethnicity. Quickly the train will take you out of the city and into the heart of another historical city, Jaipur.

Dinner will be served aboard the luxury train.

Day 2- Sunday: Jaipur

Today a trip to Amber Fort is on the cards post breakfast. Amber Fort is one of the most resplendent fortresses in Rajasthan with fortifies walls and battlement. It is used to be the erstwhile abode of the maharajas of Jaipur before the capital was shifted to City Palace, Jaipur. The tour will be followed by an exhibition Elephant Polo match and a sumptuous lunch at an exclusive venue.

Day 3- Monday: Ranthambore - Fatehpur Sikri

Day 4- Tuesday: Agra - Gwalior

Continue on to Gwalior on board Maharajas Express.

Accommodation

As the name suggests, Maharaja's Express offers a truly royal accommodation for its passengers. It is well-equipped with 5-star hotel facilities and services, offering its guests a royal experience. The train takes its guests across the various destinations starting from north to south.

The accommodation includes five carriages for Deluxe Cabins, six for Junior Suites, two for Suites and one for grand Presidential Suite. Each cabin is especially fitted with a huge window for providing its guests the opportunity to see the outside beauty. There are 23 AC luxuriously decorated coaches on the train.

All the cabins have individual temperature controls, the one of its kind in India and state-of-the-art facilities like LCD televisions, direct dial telephone, DVD players, Internet and environmentally friendly wash rooms. The facility of in-house movies and live television is also available to keep the guests entertained. Each cabin is also installed with its own electronic safe deposit box.

Attendants

There are attendants at your service round the clock to ensure your comfortable sojourn on the train. Every need of each passenger is taken care of.

Restaurants

Rang Mahal and Peacock  are the two beautiful restaurants on board, having an accommodation facility of 42 people at a time. Complimentary wines and beer are also served with the dinner. A variety of lip-smacking cuisines like Indian, Continental and Chinese are served in the restaurants.

Bar and Lounges

Safari Bar on board is stocked with a wide range of wines, liquor and beer which comes complimentary to every traveller on the train. Scrumptious snacks are also provided along with the drinks. There is a lounge on the train that has a bar comprising game tables as well as club arm chairs for the comfort of its passengers.

Guides

Guests are also provided with professional and qualified English-speaking guides, who share the knowledge with passengers while exploring the attractions.

Smoking Policy

According to the Indian law smoking is not allowed in the train.
