History

Thanjavur was once the royal city of various Deccan dynasties, including the Cholas, the Nayaks, and the Marathas, who all contributed to its undying legacy of temples & palaces. A city that was known for its patronage of artisans and scholars, Thanjavur still maintains its artistic heritage.
